Abstract

Studies of the addition of oils in poultry satisfactory results have been presented especially in warm regions where animals they are susceptible to heat stress. The oil palm fruit is high in ether extract and is available in the Magdalena Medio region. The objective of the this study was to evaluate the use of palm fruit (Elaeis guineensis Jack) ad libitum in feeding broilers in the finishing stage. The work was performed at the Experimental Center Santa Lucia. Chickens of Cobb 198 line, divided into two treatments and three replicates were used. Or control treatment 1 were fed commercial feed, and treatment 2 with commercial feed and palm fruit at will during the stage of finishing. The variables evaluated were: growth rate, feed conversion and carcass yield. The experiment was carried out under a design of randomized complete block with three replicates per treatment and analysis of variance (ANOVA) was applied using the SPSS 20 program. The results obtained in this study were favorable for treatment with the addition of whole fruit will oil palm. For the variable growth rate no statistically significant differences between treatments (p>0.05) were presented. Feed conversion ratio (ICA) and carcass yield, significant differences between treatments (P>0.05) occurred. The palm fruit palatable presented by broilers and were satisfactory technical results which indicate that it is a viable alternative in chicken fattening food.
